Out of Jakarta, Weekend at Resinda Hotel Karawang

When Jakarta is packed, you started to look beyond the borders. So did us. That’s why this post is another story about a driving out of the City Center. This time Fiona visited Karawang, a suburb 2 hours away from Jakarta. It was a bright and beautiful day.

Welcome to Karawang.

Deciding where to stay in places like Karawang also means finding accommodation with delicious restaurant on board. Sure, suburb these days aren’t that quiet residential places. Especially Karawang regency,a growing area under West Java province. So I picked Resinda Hotel Karawang, which is managed under Padma hotels.

Upon arrivals, after welcomed by the friendly staffs and drinks, we go straight to brunch at Tekai Japanese Restaurant. It’s an all you can eat sushi buffet, located at a cool minimalistic Japanese interior. This buffet serves sushi rolls but they don’t have sashimi. Too bad. Setting that aside, I moved on to beef minced karaage, fish karaage and curry. They quickly become my favorite. What’s surprising is that they have udon or cold soba. I love it so much! Come to Tenkai on Saturday lunch (from 11.30AM to 2PM) for their Sushi Mayhem promotions. It’s only Rp. 150k++/pax.

Room Experience

My room is located on the 16th floor on the corner. As I entered, I was amazed by the light coming through the window. I like it that the room is secluded on the corner and it’s quiet. The bathroom has bathtub, a rare luxury for hotel rooms these days. Big windows, big TV and big wardrobe. This room is awesome. It feels like a mini apartment with another large TV and mini dining table on the other room, which only separated by glass partition.

And the highlight of the day is the Krups Nescafe Dolce Gusto, which we can ask if we want more. I’m spending my afternoon with Coffee and TV.

How about swimming pool? It’s quite nice, with pretty stones and mini waterfall. Jogging track is right next to it with gym room nearby. It looks really nice and green.

Whoops, it’s dinner time already. Dinner is held at the hotel’s buffet place, The Oryza Restaurant. Padma hotel is owned by Djarum group so the theme is Kudus. The owner of Djarum, upon visiting this place, wanted to eat food from his hometown. So the chef was sent to Kudus to learn about cooking Kudus dishes. Some of the ingredients are still imported from Kudus including the cattle-skin crackers (kerupuk kulit), served as welcome snack.

Some of the menu is definitely familiar, it’s just I never realized they originated from Kudus. Tahu Telur Ayam (Tofu and Egg with Chicken), Ayam Garang Asem (a chicken dish in sour coconut milk sauce), and Sup Pindang Ayam (Indonesian chicken curry stew soup) are some of the food. I love the food and it tastes authentic. Ayam Garang Asem is clearly the winning dish for me. But then again, the other two are as delicious.

I went to bed with a happy stomach.

Breakfast is back at the Oryza Restaurant.

The same restaurant, but breakfast time is a whole different world. Complete buffet from egg station, Indonesian, Western and Japanese. I love that they have a Jamu and honey corner. You’d be surprise with what you find at honey corner, from wild honey, honeydew honey (or forest honey) until Nusantara honey. This time there is indoor and outdoor.

Then I went back to sleep until lunchtime. This is one crazy staycation because I can spend the whole day sleeping on the comfy bed, or relaxing while watching TV.

Our lunch is held at Haiwang Chinese Delight. It’s quite full, maybe because it’s lunchtime. But those who come are mostly big groups of family. The place is a typical Chinese modern restaurant, mostly in red color, wooden and classic interior. I was taking pictures and peeking into the food. There are plenty of dimsum (both steamed and fried), noodle station and dessert station. The recommended dish is lemongrass pudding. Haha. Yeah, I go right to dessert. Anyway, tracing back the steps a little bit, dimsum are generally tasty and everyone in the group is crazy about the fried rice. Then I’m back at lemongrass pudding. If you think about ordering ala carte, choose Pork Belly, Roasted Duck, and Suckling Pig. Well, all this delicacy is only for Rp. 135k nett/pax dan valid on Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM.

This is a real getaway. Comfortable hotel with delicious dishes. Isn’t that the main idea of staycation?
